The white sail was supposed to mean that Isolde was found, and the black one, that she wasn't. The boat approached, and had no sail at all. Was she dead?

She's standing on the jetty, waving her white handkerchief and crying.
Her husband was a sailor. He disappeared one month ago and is probably dead now .

5/Starboard side
He was superstitious and always chose his seat at the starboard side of the planes. That time, this precaution wasn't enough. The whole aircraft exploded. He died.
