Today my wife and I went to early vote "YES" for the redistricting here in VA. There was an old couple in front of us and when the election worker asked for the lady's ID, the lady said "I thought you didn't need ID to vote."

My wife and I both groaned and rolled our eyes. The election worker politely explained that you always need ID to vote in this country.

So we know how that old couple was voting. 😠

@jcrabapple That reminds me of the lady making a scene during the primary voting here in Texas.

Apparently she had moved through multiple states and counties, and wasn't on the register. She was very loudly complaining that the poll workers let "all the illegals vote, but I have to prove where I live".

I got a "tsk tsk" from one of the poll workers when I loudly said "oh for fucks sake..."

@jcrabapple FWIW, you don't need ID in this *country*. It varies by state, and laws requiring ID only started in 2002. I don't need ID to vote in California, for example.

@mitten yes but you need ID to register so the point still stands that there's not a problem with "voting without ID" in this country. Republicans are just racist and stupid.
