More details about today’s announcement of Talgo coaches for Swedish night trains in this radio interview (at 44:55)

- Coaches by Talgo
- Locos by Siemens
- Three comforts: 4-bed, 2-bed with wc/shower, and some fuzzily defined solo compartment
- Same capacity as today’s fleet
- Claim of ”high comfort”, but focusing on temperature and sound insulation and wifi
- Of course they say they think it will run as promised in 2030

For reference: Follow up interview/analysis with Magnus Olofsson from KTH/Resenärerna at 78:42. Pretty harsh criticism regarding claimed comfort and economics of these carriages (and thus risk of high ticket prices and potentially killing the concept).

Here is a page about the Talgo night trains used in Germany 1994-2009. They had a liegewagen/couchette section with beds along the outside walls, not the across layout common in western Europe. Also the sleeping compartments only had two beds, not the usual three.

@eriksandblom Yes, the design was interesting! But they also had vMax 140km/h... @violanders @stefanlindbohm @Jonas_Bostrom @tml
@jon @violanders @stefanlindbohm @Jonas_Bostrom @tml I went on one. I seem to recall it tilted, but the tilting mechanism was not under the floor, it was basically in the ceiling. That means every time it tilted, the floor jerked sideways. Made it difficult to walk or take a shower.
@eriksandblom It's at the top of the bogies, yes, and it is a passive tilt (hence Talgo Pendular). It's a bit weird indeed. @violanders @stefanlindbohm @Jonas_Bostrom @tml
