There is so much truth in this. But there are even more dimensions to it.
Before AI, when handing over maintenance of some parts of our product to a younger colleague, they either were able to actually maintain it, or they would ask for help and grow on it. It was observable.
But, AI enables them to appear as if they were able to maintain it, even when they're not. I find it increasingly hard to respect someone just because they appear to be doing their job, when there is no direct proof.
