The always-levitating golden skull with feathery wings gave the owner an unlimited ability to fly, particularly useful for archers and mages, who could then cast the death from above while being practically invulnerable to attacks from vast majority of D'Sparil disciples... Until D'Sparil learned of that and imbued Gargoyles with ability to cast fireballs and invented Nitrogolems.
