Wake up, prices are rising, wages are stagnant. The bridge downtown is rusting away. There used to be a trolly line and a bus line but now it is gone. The schools are shabby, the park is choked with weeds, the swings are broken. But, we live in such a wealthy country, right? Where *is* all that wealth?

People make ‘a killing’ in prediction markets on news of war, on secrets of war and big decisions. And we must keep their taxes low on those profits because it's "good for the economy.” The poor limping economy. The local park will close in a year, the city just can't afford to keep it up anymore. Wake up.

Is it morning in America, like Regan once said? The alarm went off hours ago. You’ve slept in. It’s beeping. Wake up.

@futurebird when are you running for office? #workingfamiliesparty would be lucky to have you. And we need more educators making big decisions because they have lived at the intersection of BS austerity fueled by the needs of the wealthy and the needs of children living down here in the real world.

@oseagh @futurebird

America has been living with its eyes closed for decadest. We are conditioned to think we're 'perfect' and 'exceptional' and that the money to sustain the illusion grows on trees when instead it's only adding to our future woes and doing fuck-all about helping people in the here-and-now.

We're 'exceptional' all right -- but not in the way DC thinks. And while that's been obvious to the world, I think more citizens are starting to realize it now, too.
