Down on my knees and begging Bluesky to look up the Lump of Labor Fallacy. We _can_ advance our arguments past the last 19th century, I promise you we can!
Ok! TIL: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lump_of... " In economics, the #LumpOfLabour #fallacy is the #misconception that there is a #finite amount of work—a lump of labour—to be done within an economy which can be distributed to create more or fewer jobs. "

Lump of labour fallacy - Wikipedia

" It is also known as the lump of jobs #fallacy, fallacy of labour scarcity, #FixedPie fallacy, and the #ZeroSum fallacy—due to its ties to #ZeroSumGames. "
" The term #FixedPieGallacy is also used more generally to refer to the idea that there is a fixed amount of wealth in the world. This and other zero-sum fallacies can be caused by #ZeroSumBias. "
That's a huelluva bias, the #ZeroSumBias , I fear it is at the root of a lot of #regressivePolitics doing damage across the globe. People voting against their own interest because it may help a person they have been trained to hate. It bothers me especially in countries founded on immigration.
