To be clear, I like so many other trans people owe my ongoing existence to those trans people who came before me, who decided not to hide away in shame, who existed openly and showed us just how wonderful life could be after taking that scary step, of starting gender transition.

But to say that this past year has been worrying might honestly be an understatement, because even Canada does not feel safe from calls for the heads of every last trans person—especially those of every trans woman.
