Me, looking at a broken tool...
I think it's the brushless motor controller board (after lots of diagnostics).

Oh, it's hard-wired in.

Oh, this is the replacement "part", which costs almost as much as the entire tool, new. Everything is disposable now, huh?

@wdormann Had this issue with a air purifier. The warranty had just expired and it died. tried doing my best to look at it and didn't really turn up much (not an electrician or very experienced with that sort at the time). But since I wasn't going to put myself through that shenanigans again I built myself a Corsi–Rosenthal Box instead. I kept the old parts around and after finally getting to the clean up old junk stage noticed that one of the capacitors on the power supply board had popped. probably could've fixed it for 5 cents or so. But I had already disassembled it for e-waste disposal >.<
@JSCybersec @wdormann
If it makes you feel any better, there might have been a deeper issue which caused the cap to blow 🙃
@RnDanger @wdormann quite likely 😵
@JSCybersec @RnDanger
The key would be if it were a true "blow out" (e.g. it exploded) vs. it swelled up until electrolyte came out of it and it stopped working.
@wdormann @RnDanger Aye in this case, just expanded. hadn't started leaking yet.
