Mysterious Windows things... when you update an app and all the icons on your desktop briefly flash to a generic document icon.

This has happened forever and I've always wondered why (and why it's never been fixed) but never enough to try to find out the reason behind it.

@swetland I think it's just refreshing the icon cache. MS is just bad at polishing away those small visual rough edges , such as fonts appearing thinner on hight dpi, or windows twitching and jittering when you drag them across different dpi displays, same thing when you resize WPF windows and UI elements sluggishly adjust...
