Trying to decide whether to use Folgezettel with my #Zettelkasten. I like how it creates a bottom-up order/structure within my files.

I was doing it, but recently switched to the VirtFolder plugin after watching @tris's recent video. It's great and accomplishes the same thing.

But I worry about relying on a plugin to make meaning out of my notes. 🤔

@ausrtho a very reasonable concern. The nice thing about using native linking is that anything that shows backlinks will ALSO show you all child notes, and you can navigate around the tree easy!

However, building the visualisation of that tree, will indeed require something. However, it's pretty reasonable to think that other tools can build the same tree, properties and links are universal - there's even another plugin, Breadcrumbs, that does this.

Also, virt-folder is open source! 🎉

@tris sorry — one more question about your use of VirtFolder. I notice you can assign more than one parent per note.

Do you ever do this? I can see it as being a nice solution when it feels like a note could reasonably be filed in two places.

Or are you strict about each note having only one parent?

@ausrtho I am, but only so I can use "navigate to parent folder" functionality, which in Breadcrumbs is called "jump to first parent".
Feels like if you have 2 places something is stored, you can get lost? But I'd be slow to judge here, as there are lots of valid uses that other folks might have!
