While many people compare the Israeli occupation to apartheid, the Israeli occupation is much, much bloodier.

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission confirmed about 21,000 deaths altogether in South Africa between 1948 and 1994. The death toll since 2023 in Palestine alone—a much smaller population—is several times that.

While apartheid policies in South Africa imposed segregation, ethnic cleansing, and racially targeted violence, the Israeli government is intentionally pursuing genocide as state policy.

And all the bloodshed up to now is not enough—today, the Israeli voted to begin hanging prisoners.

Not to mention the ongoing bombardment and occupation of Lebanon.

@CrimethInc It was an apartheid state

...before they used 7 October to justify genocide. (Hell, it's possible you could've called it that before and I just didn't know because I woke up to how bad it was a few months before it happened)

@disorderlyf I think @CrimethInc’s point was that this is astronomically worse (Oct 7 excuse or no) than Apartheid. Comparisons of the intifada and apartheid pale next to all (hand waves) *THIS*

@cascheranno @CrimethInc It's certainly worse than South African apartheid even before. We at very least agree it's been genocide since a particular date. When it went from apartheid to genocidal action is something you, myself, and OP may disagree on, but I don't know and acknowledge my opinion might be misinformed. Shit like this, I just assume at this point there's probably details I don't know about because they got buried and/or happened before I was born.
