what are people using nowadays to create a custom layer map? kind of like leaflet/mapbox but ultra simple. just wanna change a few colors here and there.

#lazyWeb #WebGIS

oh hello there QGIS... been a while since we last met!
@mgiraldo like a web slippy map, or static/one-off?
@scott a bit of both. ended up downloading a couple of shapefiles from https://www.naturalearthdata.com/ and assembling them in QGIS and exporting to vector to work on Affinity
Natural Earth - Free vector and raster map data at 1:10m, 1:50m, and 1:110m scales

@mgiraldo Nice. That workflow has not really improved much over the years (that I know of).

I was looking into slippy maps for a website, and it seems Leaflet is still the simplest for dropping pins on a map (assuming you can use someone else’s tiles, are not doing custom styling…).

@scott oh the toys ZIRP gave us for a couple of years...
@mgiraldo did you ever use getlanlon.com? A different sort of tool but it was so simple and great.
@scott yeah. been a while since i did any gis related stuff tho
