Looking for advice. (IT / tech)

Looks like my laptop may be fukkd.
Changed the battery, but now it sometimes just stops charging. It will still accept power, just not actually charge.

This mostly happens after I travel with it a bit.

It won't start charging again until the battery is removed and reconnected.
The contacts seem perfectly fine.
I have ruled out the charger, this happens with USB-C and the normal AC Wall charger.

Currently testing if this still happens with the old battery, but the laptop case is also worn and chipped from the opening and closing, because of course its held together with flimsly plastic clips.

@theod if it's not the new battery, this sounds like like a loose connection somewhere between the charger connector/PD controller and the battery, where it'll disconnect if subjected to sufficient impact forces. i have a laptop that has a similar problem with one of its ram slots. you could try reproducing it by tapping against the case with your fingers while watching the charge indicator.

you could also inspect the battery connector on the board really closely, look for any bent pins, poke at the solder joints too see if they're loose. with battery and charger disconnected of course.
