People on Bluesky are talking about how horrible it is for a social medium to allow people to edit posts. Why, someone could write a good post, get thousands of likes, and then edit their post to say something horrible and embarrass all of those people.

I replied that Mastodon allows people to and I haven't heard of this being a problem. Someone immediately appointed themselves as speaker for marginalized people and said that I should talk to marginalized people about it.

I think it's amusing how much this is a horror fantasy for a certain kind of person. Someone could write a good post -- you like it -- and then they edit the post to say "I like Hitler". Then someone could track you down by your like (or repost or whatever) and see you expressing support for that!

Marginalized people complain about features of Mastodon all the time, but I haven't heard this one because it's a concern of "allies" who must be seen as good "allies".

@richpuchalsky If someone here embarrassed me I would just block the person. Like many other people I guess. Problem solved 😃
