I don't understand this bizarre impulse other white people have to defend "anti-woke" and anti-diversity ideas as some form of "free thinking" or "moderation."

They're even worse than the meme guy demanding compromise between the KKK and BLM because they don't want to hear what BLM has to say at all. Just sucking up to other garbage white people.

That is to say, I do understand, they're just cowards about their bigotry.

@gwynnion I think that the people who really stick to this recognize it as a way to support white supremacy that is very difficult to combat especially if the person fighting this tact is assuming good faith. I say this as a person whose default position is to assume good faith. It took me way too long to accept that most people who are stuck on this argument simply DO NOT WANT to see the folly of their argument.
@griotspeak That's exactly what it is. They want to do the wrong and in my opinion evil thing but they want it to be taken for granted that they're well-intentioned, even naive, and hide behind some high-minded sounding nonsense so they personally don't have to engage in the conflict directly.
