We believe that other cat I mentioned a couple of days ago is void kitten’s mama; she’s thinner than the first time we saw her. We suspect she was pregnant back then, which also explains why she was so skittish. We were told she had babies a couple of weeks ago, and since then she’s been observing how we interact with void kitten and accepting food we leave for her.
Void kitten’s mom.
He’s home with us.
We didn’t even need a pet carrier to bring him home; I picked him up and we walked with him in my arms the whole way back to our apartment. He was such a good boy taking a bath and has no fleas (!!).
The bakery is officially open and he’s very serious about his job.
What a weird night for void kitten, eh? The two people who fed him for over a month brought him to a big weird place, then a small weird place. Then they fed him what was probably the best meal of his life so far, gave him a bath, helped him get dry, put him in the fluffiest bed he’s ever slept on, and activated night mode (i.e. turned off the lights) where he’s now sleeping peacefully.
We’re so happy. 🖤
It took him a little while, but he used the litter box! And he found a spot he loves on our couch. Caught him sleeping and purring. 🖤
🥺 first time he sat on my lap on his own.
We arrived from our neighborhood cat watch shift and void kitten was behind a couple of pillows, belly up, legs stretched, relaxed af. Baby is living his best life now.
He was born to be a fediverse star.
For reference, here’s the very first photo I took of him on January 31.
Pure bliss.
Coming home to a kitty meowing because they’re so happy to see you again is the best feeling. 🥲
He knows when it’s time for dinner and greets me with the sweetest meows. 🥹
He likes to sleep on a spot on our couch where he can see me working.
He likes to watch figure skating.
Good morning. 🐈‍⬛
About a vet visit: since he’s still quite skittish about strangers, we decided to look for a vet that could visit our apartment rather than take him somewhere. He’ll have his first vet appointment tomorrow. 🤞🏻
The way he loves taking naps near me and always comes to me for a snuggle makes me feel like the most special person in the world.
Baby void is estimated to be 4 months old and seems to be in very good health. We’re running a blood test + rapid tests today. We will start his vaccination schedule and microchip him next week.
Just a baby.

We suspect he was separated from his mom too early because… well… he’s been showing some nursing behavior with me (trying to suckle on my hair). I’m slowly getting him to be (1) more gentle (2) redirect his attention to a toy or a blanket.

His mom seems to be very young herself. She had him in early December, and we know she just had another litter weeks ago. So it makes sense she weaned him very early on.

We want to rescue his mom and his siblings, and TNR his dad. But this will require some coordination with pet rescue groups to find them some temporary and permanent homes.
Test results are out and he’s a super healthy boy. 🖤
Baby void is going to be microchipped and vaccinated today! We were able to grab an early appointment.
Morceguinho is now vaccinated, microchipped and slightly irritated at us because we keep bringing vets home. >:(
Baby’s first diarrhea (he was given deworming meds for the first time).
He’s good, playing a lot, meowing a lot, etc. He seems way less stressed now.
Morceguinho is feeling better. Ate some wet food as breakfast, played with me for a couple of hours, and now he’s a bit sleepy. I think he’ll take his morning nap pretty soon.
It’s been a whole week since we rescued Morceguinho. At this point, he’s more vocal and responding well to our corrections when he plays a little too hard or does something we don’t want him to do (e.g. suckle on my hair). He loves digging, his rat and fish toys, and sleeping behind the couch where he can watch me working. He takes naps in the late morning and early afternoon. He’s the sweetest cat, and my spouse and I are completely in love with him.
Good morning! Here’s Morceguinho enjoying a petting session. ✨
Morceguinho enjoys:
✅ Bad Bunny
✅ Videos about 3D printing
Looking like the small bat he is.
A mimir.
Atento.
Morceguinho has been getting the zoomies in the early morning (when we wake up) and late night (when we arrive from uni).
Morceguinho spent some time watching the birds through the office window.
It's his chair now.
That's why you buy split keyboards.
@anna OMG. My artist in residence, Athena Cat the Destroyer, will love you forever. I never even thought of this.
