your grandparents voting for reagan
@geekysteven Sadly, I voted for Uncle Ronnie in '84. I can only point to youth, environment, and naivete for my decision. Fortunately, I GTFO of Idaho, which allowed me to learn maturity and collective responsibility.

@DukeDuke @geekysteven

I was in highschool 80-83 in northern Virginia. I can proudly say that I never considered voting for that asshole and I attended four or five #RockAgainsreagan concerts on The Mall in DC. That shitstain is the reason we got trump and (if there were one), they could both burn in hell. The #Crucifucks were prescent; https://open.spotify.com/track/3ImEXxQjfH188qPc7vwNOz

@Lilmikesf

I went in 81,82,83, went to German for four years and then 88 and maybe 89, I don't remember.
If you were there the year a dude got up on stage and mooned the Park Police helicopter, that was a friend of mine! I'm the guy who got kicked in the face and knocked off the stage by the circle jerks!
Did you know Kira and Erica?

@mycotropic

doubt knew same kira & erica :)

was definitely there in 84 & 85... recall Jello calling Washington monument a giant klansman with glowing eyes...

@geekysteven @futurebird

Minnesota pleads not guilty.

(I do not actually know how my grandparents or parents voted in 1980 and 1984. But Minnesota as a state went for Carter and Mondale.)

@michael_w_busch @geekysteven @futurebird [goose meme when was the last time Minnesota voted Republican, mfer]
They voted for Nixon in 72, so let's not pretend that generation was especially wise. They just liked Fritz Mondale, having seen him not through the distorting lens of national media.
@geekysteven
Mine we’re dead, so I don’t think they voted for him.
After having him as my Governor and seeing the damage he did, I didn’t vote for him.
@geekysteven Imagine how many years Trump is going to cost.
@geekysteven 18. My first time voting. I asked my dad who was a good choice. Voted in nearly every election since. That's the one I regret.
@geekysteven Ooof, this goes hard. Close to lightspeed.

@geekysteven History is better at judgment than voters are at prediction.

It's like raising kids. You make a decision today, based on what you know, and it'll take 20-30 years before you know if that was the right choice or not.

@geekysteven Could be worse John Howard was done by my parents in the early 2000s after the disaster of Reagan was well known and the destruction of his efforts permeated in an even shorter amount of time.

Turned the Australian economy in an absolute joke, and installed a hard to fight "Fuck you; got mine" mentality where there was once egalitarian views.
