People hate on AI, but sometimes AI is just faster at things.
Here we see how much faster AI is at enshitification!

@calcius ... and?
@calcius Yeah, that's my point. I don't see the problem. Enshittification isn't about AI specifically, even though generative AI is a huge source of it. Machine learning in general (which now gets slapped with the "AI" label too) had a lot of applications and responsible use cases long before Scam Altman and co entered the space and enshittified it.
@calcius What I mean is that "enshittification" isn't about AI as a technology, so I don't see why coining the term should preclude him from using it.
Of course, if he thinks Scam Altman is an OK guy, then I certainly have less confidence in his ability to judge people and technology, but that's beside the point.
@calcius I have a hard time talking about AI without expressing my disdain for Altman and the tech oligarchs, but it was a bit of a side point to the one I expressed above. I simply didn't see the connection in your reply to the OP.
To your current point: I also use the term "meme", despite Richard Dawkins being an complete and utter shithead (not that I'm comparing Doctorow to him). I think such terms take on a life of their own when they enter popular use. But sure, I get why you avoid it.
