Shahed drones are not stealthy. They are not fast. They are not cold. They are not quiet.
Ukraine shoots them down with machine gun fire from helicopters and technicals.
It in inexcusable that a US airbase in Saudi Arabia was hit, and an AWACS destroyed, by one. It means we have inadequate control of the airspace, and insufficient ability to respond to threats beyond conventional missiles. It means we have ignored Ukraine’s hard-won lessons.

That's rather oversimplifying.
First – any means of defeating the drones are a part of a system that includes various means of detection and situational awareness,
Second – as of recent EW and interceptor drones play a major role.
Ukrainians offered sharing their knowledge and were turned down, didn't they.
@mcnado I saw a headline pass by that said Ukraine is no longer sending troops out of the country for training by foreign militaries, because their in-house training is now superior for the reality on the ground. The militaries of the major "western" powers have fought a lot of wars, and did have useful experience but thats now dated and comes from an era that doesn't exist anymore.
Unfortunately military lessons are written in blood, and it looks like the US is going to bleed before it learns.
