i've been a #penguinista since 2014; i lurve it.

i've been a pacifist for many decades longer, & ain't changing.

regrettably there's a stupid #linux meme too many creep-peeps seem to like using, involving various iterations of #tux carrying a machine gun & wearing over-shoulder ammunition belts. it's not only sickening in its implicit glorification of naked violence, it's also juvenile, but worst of all, it seems such a deplorably merkan vibe 🤮️

from today i begin not just ignoring this idiocy any more, but explicitly blocking accounts using it... & the first of today's candidates has just appeared... so, bye to you, creep-peep!

i mean, i fully realise that my puny private protest will achieve nothing, yet i still feel the need to do it, coz i'm just so appalled at the implicit smug endorsement of violence.

fwiw, the meme & variants seem to be used by other linux fans, to "demonstrate" that linux will not be "beaten" by... windoze, mac, governments... basically name your "enemy". the other thing i ofc also realise is i would gain nothing practical by trying to debate this with anyone who thinks that way... they would either simply not even recognise there's a moral problem at all, or would demean me as some type of wacky wowser. sigh.

@MsDropbear42 Y'know, what I think would be... a much more fitting "Linux will not be beaten" imagery, is Tux, sitting next to a crack in a pavement where a dandilion is growing.

Because Linux is as persistent and as pervasive and as irrepressible as a weed. 🌱
