Hmm, apparently the LAPD using the same technique as the apes in "Planet of the Apes" 😬
@ai6yr My brain went to the same scene.
@ai6yr
I'm going to hazard a guess and assume it wasn't the cops being arrested for their use of gratuitous violence against peaceful protestors 😑
@me_valentijn I'm pretty sure "exert gratuitous violence" is in the manual somewhere, i.e. "if people do not comply, be extremely violent until they do comply so they respect you"

@ai6yr

Optics, baby. That chick's got you and she knows it

@ai6yr LOL!!! Is she flirting with that cop?
@crazyeddie I'm pretty sure he's thinking about going out with her on a date.
@ai6yr Of course he is. There's no way he can help it.
@ai6yr @crazyeddie I think she’s grinning because she knows that the pictures of her being led away by the cops are going to be iconic and make the cops look bad. In my head she’s indicating to him that he should smile because there are cameras taking pictures.

@dhedgehog @ai6yr Yeah, I guess it could just be my bullshit male stuff reading into things. Got tats, no died hair, she comes off as not giving many fucks about bullshit. The type that might go ahead and flirt with the guy in uniform while they arrest her. I'd find that funny--I'm attracted to that.

Guess it could be offensive me reading it that way though and may be just completely off.

@crazyeddie @dhedgehog That's the beauty of these photos, you can try to interpret them your way and imagine what was going on, lol.
@crazyeddie @ai6yr I don’t find what you said offensive, I just saw another possible take, so no worries!
@dhedgehog @ai6yr Maybe you weren't but what you said made me think about it a minute and if she was offended by it she'd be right to be maybe. Maybe it would be holding me too much to the grinder, or maybe it is just legit the wrong way to be. I could be putting her in a light she just does not like. Whatever happened, it was between those two.

@crazyeddie @dhedgehog @ai6yr

I appreciate you interrogating your assumptions. That is so important for growth!

Her smile, body language, and extremely sexy dress give me the impression that she has taken this one of the few possible routes through life for women: Charm people into letting you survive

Looking at the picture, I imagined her telling him, 'It's good we're both getting out of here before the tear gas'

Finding common ground, making a connection. It's a good way to avoid assault

And the costume, plus putting herself in a position to be arrested and photographed, was absolutely brilliant activism

@ai6yr What on earth is on those horses' faces? Are we going back to chain-mail? Seems like the only thing the horses eyes are at risk from is the people riding the horses with big sticks. <sigh>

@ai6yr

Those polo horses are a step in german shepherds direction - aka like used in the 50/60's race riot police actions.

@ai6yr It reminds me of a photo of an infamous piece of police brutally from about 40 years ago during the miner's strike.

‘A policeman took a full swipe at my head’: Lesley Boulton at the Battle of Orgreave, 1984

I don’t take this image personally. It’s not about me; it’s about something much bigger: an expression of arbitrary power

The Guardian

@ai6yr Every time you start to think maybe some of the police here and there are starting to sort of redeem themselves with some corrected policies, this happens. acab indeed.

When they're riding horses swinging long wooden clubs at people for holding signs they've given up all pretense of being anything else.

Interesting wording.

Calling violent uniformed shitbags authorities.
