I was wondering that too: Perplexity says,
"Spain’s electricity price can go negative in the wholesale market when there is more power available than the grid needs, especially on very sunny or windy days when solar and wind output is high and demand is relatively low. In that situation, generators may be willing to pay to keep producing rather than shut down, so the market-clearing price dips below zero."

Too much electricity is as bad as too little.
Need more batteries to soak up excess electricity and shift to nighttime.
Not more society leaching crypto.
100% on the batteries (+ green hydrogen) but the excess of electricity = very low prices
@neverbeaten Apparently crypto mining never became a thing because of high electricity prices, though now it looks like there's a flood of large data centres (due to the cheap energy + fast internet).
