Sorry that this link will be full of adverts. Only I don't remember anyone asking me if I thought sending robots out into the streets of the city where I live was OK. Big Tech, the people who brought us the Grok paedophile chatbot, just shove this down people's throats and guess what: people react. Criminal damage or legitimate defence of privacy? #ubereats #sheffield #meersbrook #bigtech

Uber Eats-branded delivery robots in Sheffield vandalised with black paint saying 'off our streets'

Delivery robots introduced in Sheffield just over a week ago have already been vandalised.

The Star
I just saw these things appear on the streets. No one said they were coming. No announcement on any new channels, looking at internet news sites the launch wasn't picked up by 'mainstream' media at all. Only tech news sites. So when something like this just appears without asking people if they want it or not, people might well react by smashing it up. Particularly given Big Tech's recent behaviour.
What a shame they have handled the launch so dreadfully as this is arguably an improvement on an underpaid, possibly vulnerable human driver in an ancient Toyota Yaris bringing your curry up the hill.
