While migrating from iPhone to my new Fairphone with murena the only app that is giving me grief is β¦ WhatsApp. Note that Signal was a breeze: make a secure backup on one device, restore it on the new device, done. A host of other apps, including all passwords, 2fa tokens, could also be migrated easily.
With WhatsApp, initially I got to where you scan a QR code displayed on the old device to connect via wifi. This failed. Then, you can only receive an authentication sms once every 7 hours. If the code does not arrive, which happened twice now, you can wait, or have them call you with the code. The call aborted with a robot voice telling me an application error occurred. Still in limbo for my message history, let alone a successful migration.
