The #Erasmus programme, that allows students to stud abroad (and much more) is widely considered as one of the most popular initiatives of the #EU.
In what year was it launched?

So the correct answer here is….🥁1987! The year that the #Erasmus Exchanges started!
That means next year we’ll be celebrating 40 years of Erasmus!
By now over 16 million people have benefitted from the programme, going abroad to study or volunteer and much more.

#EPSOprep

Adding a source for you to dig into more data, and I realise on this more recent article it says actually that 18 million people have benefited from Erasmus+.

@hpod16 I had never been outside the U.K. before I went to Italy on the Erasmus programme in the early 90s. It changed my life significantly. When Brexit happened this was the loss I felt most keenly...
@paulwalk Brexit sucks, I agree, but it doesn’t have to spell the end of student exchanges.
You can become part of the Erasmus programme without being an EU member state actually. And guess what? UK is coming BACK to Erasmus baby!

UK will rejoin Erasmus student scheme in 2027

The UK left in December 2020 as part of the post-Brexit trade deal with the EU negotiated by Boris Johnson.

@hpod16
One oft the best european ideas for sure!
@hpod16 You made a (quite funny) typo: “stud” instead of “study”.
@Changaco
I’m sure quite a lot of people also found studs abroad 😂 in fact some EU staffers once came up with a hypothetical number that there must be over a million Erasmus babies out there (but they kind of made it up tbh)
Thanks for pointing out the typo! Big whoopsie on my part indeed.

@hpod16

Always very popular, studding abroad. Used ro be called the Grand Tour.
