United Confederate Veterans Final Reunion Issue

Mar 28, 1951 #CivilWar NYT Across the top of the stamp will be the wording, "Final Reunion United Confederate Veterans," in whiteface gothic. In the upper left corner of the design will be an hour glass, with most of the sand in the lower half. It is believed that there are now only seven surviving Confederate veterans. The final reunion will be the sixty-first. The final reunion of the Grand Army of the Republic was held at Indianapolis in 1949 and was marked with similar postal honor.

@SonOfSandor Veterans reunion brings to mind when I drove a cab in the '80s. I remember shuffling several car loads of WWII submariner reunion attendees between Reno & Sparks. Heard some interesting stories. One load included both US & German submariners! I asked if any Japanese submariners were in attendance? They said no, none survived the war.
@elaterite Fascinating! I hope they documented their stories.
