Have you ever felt so checked out from your job you just want to lie on bed all day? What should I do? - Lemmy

I don’t care about my job anymore: my boss bores me and constantly tries manipulating me so I work more for the same money, half of my coworkers are morons (the other half are fine), clients are demanding and entitled asses. All I think of is excuses not to work, but I don’t have enough stamina to quit and find something else. It’s like I’m the main character in office space. Sometimes I think I should be fired because that would force me to snap out of it and find something I might enjoy, but every job is going to be sh*t like the one I have now. I’m following the path of least resistance. I work because I need money but I’ve decided I’m gonna half ass it as much as I can and call in sick as much as I can because what’s the effing point? I’m gonna get paid anyways. Another question: If your work includes dealing with the public, have you noticed how they’re increasingly demanding? I don’t know if I’m the only one feeling like this. It’s like spring brings the stupid side of people out.

Friends I’m gonna give it to you straight and simple, cause I’ve been there… that sounds like burn out. You need to a) figure out a way to take a medical leave b) seek professional mental help (even just meds to get you up and running so you can seek more long term help). If you absolutely cannot do the former, you have to do your quiet quitting while you seek help, so you can land on your feet when the inevitable happens.
Yes. Take care of yourself first. And then look for another job ASAP
See if you can get some time off. Sleep a lot and exercise during it.
That’s really been my entire existence regardless of whether I was employed or not. The single time I wasn’t like that, every other person around me wore me down until it died.
Sounds like an office job. That was my experience as well. I quit and learned a trade. It is also obvious who are high performers and I get paid more. Down side is, my body is falling apart 22 years in (auto mechanic). On the plus side, customers are always really nice to me. They get angry at the front counter folks.
This just sounds like me, but I’m paid hourly so I don’t get paid if I call in sick. Work will never be something I’ll enjoy. It’s something I’m forced to do to get pieces of paper so I can be allowed to do things that give my brain the happy feeling instead of the sad feeling. My therapist used to try and talk career aspects with me to see if something existed I’d like that could also pay the bills, but he ultimately decided it was a waste of time and focusing on my regular and social anxiety problems was easier.

I can attest to some of how you’re feeling, my job is fucking stressful at the moment as well. I’m learning different ways to cope with it.

But yeah, i deal with the public as well. They are fucking cunts at the moment.

I am genuinely confused whenever I interact with someone who doesn’t feel this way
Doing anything beyond the minimum that keeps you from being fired is just volunteering for capitalism.
Oh and you definitely gotta agitate and unionize.
Congrats you’re a communist now. Go buy a gun.
Invest as much as you can into a low fee global etf like VT, and live as cheap as you can. Then retire early and have people like yourself work for you.

I’m in your boat, dude. In my company, every month, there’s at least one coworker resigning. A lot of them were with us since the beginning. Now most of my friends there are gone.

A lot of them are replaced by new faces, whom I barely even have the energy to get to know. For some, we couldn’t even find a proper replacement, the management decided to canibalize someone from other teams, one of which is mine, which cause my team to become understaffed.

This month, one I’m quite close with is resigning. I’m in the same batch of recruitment as her.

At the moment, I’m looking for new job. I know currently my job is safe simply because they’re desperate for help, but still… It’s fucking depressing, man.

In addition to what more patient people add I will say magnesium and potassium are not in multivitamins and perk you right up. also eat more protein and fiber a lot more. won’t fix work we need something else for that. but it will give you those cool long wizard dreams
Your doing the right thing. If things are bs there is no reason to be top tier. Its a good days work for a good days pay not a good days work for peanuts. For the public you should be able to figure it out by your own interactions with businesses. They are not adequately emplying folks so the service which is als often the product but at leas part of getting a product is crap so they get frustrated and respond by getting angry. Also they often don’t understand when and if they should push and when not to. Its not their fault as its hard to even get a general idea of whats possible and not but its no longer a six sigma business world were things not working are so rare its just a few people and they know it. They know the standard is not something that works or functions correctly. Now the standard is that it work to a level where its not worth complaining vs the price spent.
