A new blog post that's very different from the usual nature and adventuring, but it's important. At least to me...

@killyourfm great article! I've gone this way the past few years & kept the things I enjoy. My main enjoyment is my music, so hifi/CDs and Vinyl. I don't have much in my house and enjoy that fact. But, I do go through the process of "would I regret this?" when I get rid of stuff - which isn't simple, right?

If my child moved out, I could down size easily. But, my music collection is me, and always has been. That would never go.

I've gone the other way though - "would this be beneficial to me?"

@NigelGreenway It's DEFINITELY not a simple process. But perhaps I (we?) overthink each item.

I agree with you about the music. There will ALWAYS be that tangible joy from my records, but I should at the very least stop adding to the collection :)

@killyourfm over thinking things for sure. A stupid example for me is the box of cables. "I might need that" was me overthinking. Where now is "have I used this in the last 6 months, and how likely is it that I will use it in the future?". That's helped me, and not just with cables.

Stuff like this isn't always black and white though 🙄

The other approach; poor the thing(s) in a box and put off sight. If you don't think about it, or want to use it you have your answer .. maybe? 😅

@killyourfm I've just inherited my dad's music and film collection. Thousands of CDs, vinyl, dvds and Blu-ray's in total. They hold personal value of me being a kid and sitting with him when he would make mix tapes for the car or work. I want them for that reason, but I'm also thinking what are the chances of me listening or watching them? So, I'm looking at digitising it all on to a server and then discussing with my dad about the idea of selling them
