I've just discovered that today is the last day that The Age newspaper will be printed and available for sale in Tasmania.

That's a pity, I remember being able to pick up The Age while travelling in Tassie. I still get the print editions of the weekend Age delivered in Melbourne, as an add-on to my digital subscription.

Anyway, I'm pleased to have had one of my articles in the final Tassie edition, in the Traveller section of the Sunday Age today.

'No longer sustainable': Nine newspapers to stop printing in Tasmania

Rising production costs and growing digital audiences are behind the company's decision to no longer print and distribute its newspapers, which includes The Age and The Financial Review, in Tasmania.

@timrichards surprised that it’s still printed in Melbourne!
@Lukas Yeah there's been talk for years about bringing the print versions to an end, but I suppose the weekend papers with all their travel and furniture ads must still make money.
@timrichards Does old mate Gerry Harvey still do half a dozen pages of ads per edition?
@Lukas Yes indeed, possibly more
@timrichards poor trees died to be Harvey Norman ads 😳
