gnulib is not fun.

I wish to purge gnulib from plptools.

I mean, it works fine... until it Very Much No Longer Works Fine.

Every new module I add to bootstrap.conf feels like I'm giving away a piece of my soul.

Every m4 file I try to decypher is a slow death.

I do not like gnulib.

Anyway, by updating the version of gnulib in plptools, we have gone from "plpftp doesn't link because of a missing symbol" on FreeBSD 15 to "plpftp is now missing identifiers that were definitely there before".

I would scream, but I'll wake up the neighbours. Plus, I'll worry the cat.

So, @captfab asked me to try compiling an old version of plptools (1.0.18) on FreeBSD 15, just to see if it really needs gnulib.

It just compiles.

Exactly as any POSIX-compliant project should.

It doesn't need gnulib.

The stifled scream has turned into maniacal laughter.

I've just read the "Supported Platforms" list for gnulib.

Haiku is no longer tested.

RIGHT, THAT'S IT! IT'S GETTING PURGED!

@thelastpsion when was that updated? Because we frequently receive bug reports on weird edge cases from gnulib developpers
@pulkomandy interesting! The doc says 2024, so it could be up to two years old.
