I think I've worked out why I like the #indieweb or #openweb so much, and it's a bit selfish: I go to my website every day and just think, 'I did that!' and, 'That's all me!'

@khleedril I may not have updated my site since 2006, but I love the idea that I own and --run-- neglect it myself 😂

The problem now, is that I'm planning to move to a boat where I won't be able to host anymore. Everyone I asked about hosting recommended [Vercel](https://vercel.com/) because they're all font-end React developers, but what I need is somewhere to host a plain old web server (nginx) and a mail server.

@khleedril I was thinking of doing something from [#NixOS friendly hosters](https://nixos.wiki/wiki/NixOS_friendly_hosters) since migrating from a hand crafted Raspberry Pi probably requires starting from scratch.

The [NixOS Manual](https://nixos.org/manual/nixos/stable/#ch-configuration) used to have an all-in-one module for exactly what I want to do, but doesn't seem to anymore. Perhaps [Stalwart](https://wiki.nixos.org/wiki/Stalwart) is the way to go for the mail server part?

@mcrocker @khleedril fwiw this is not the official wiki.

Also. AWS has native NixOS support. The AMI is directly on the nixos homepage. I think it's the only cloud provider we provide tested support for. It should be in the top of the list.

@arianvp @mcrocker This is great, but 1) AWS can >expletive< get lost for multiple reasons *especially* in the context of #indieweb 2) AMI is not the most portable format. Probably this is the best solution for US businesses, but everybody else can surely find something better.
