First, let me clarify the obvious - these are my opinions and how I'm choosing to do what I do. Everyone should do whatever they want.
I've not been particularly interested in Project Hail Mary, though I've heard good things about it, and it's doing quite well at the box office. I would have considered seeing it at some point. But then I heard about the viewpoints of Andy Weir, the author of the book that the film is based on. 1/3
And I've chosen not to support the film because of the author, which really isn't a big deal because it's not like I was excited to go.
I'd not seen The Martian, another film that is based on one of Weir's books. And I actually remembered that I had another of Weir's books, Artemis, on my list of books to get, though I have to admit that was mostly because I became enamoured of the name Artemis after seeing and reading Ready Player One. 2/3
But I've also now read what Weir's book Artemis is like, so I'm taking it off my list.
There are quite a number of people associated with this film that I like. And it's already getting Oscar buzz. But regardless, I won't be seeing the film, and I will be rooting against it for any nominations that it gets. 3/3
