1st sighting of a black and orange and white Baltimore Oriole in ages! Seen through dirty window, under overgrown boxwood, eating birdseed (hawk-free zone).
@mtechman we saw one here (eastern North Carolina) a few days ago! Singing sporadically. We were very excited! 💚

@mtechman they nest in the western part of my state and they do like riverbank edges and lake-edges etc. (trying to convince you to go to the river! 😁 )

It's a 5 minute walk from my house! I am so lucky. I'm going to go there for picnic lunch soon.
@mtechman They are so pretty and (in my experience) so shy! Though grape jelly or half an orange really does bring them around.
@troublewithwords I can't believe I forgot about these treats! The grape jelly trick makes them sound like cousins of hummingbirds...
