Android-Based GrapheneOS Refuses Age Verification, May Exit Regions That Enforce It

The privacy-focused Android fork would rather lose market access than collect user data at setup.

It's FOSS
@itsfoss one of the issue with this is, should a bad group if people like pedophiles, terrorist, scammers.. Use GrapheneOS. Is GrapheneOS ready to accept this?
I use GrapheneOS and getting worried about being completely open. But to what end.

@VinCep73 @itsfoss This is the exact type of language that authoritarians and fascists use to eliminate dissent.

"Show me the OS and I'll find you the crime"

Are you really that worried about protecting the kids, or do you perhaps have ulterior motives?

@libreovergratis @itsfoss I’m genuinely curious about this balance, not looking to undermine privacy or promote authoritarianism. I’d love to hear your thoughts on how we can approach this constructively.

@VinCep73 @itsfoss I don't think there is a balance to be struck, the GOS foundation provides the user with software. It is up to the user to decide whether to use it for good or bad, and it is up to law enforcement to protect the public against threats to our society without infringing on the rights of innocent people.

The moment we start putting responsibility on to the developers of an OS to protect the public we shift liability as well, this is a deliberate move to kill libre software.
