The signs say "no kings", but the credit cards in the gas pumps keep saying "YES KINGS! ANYTHING YOU WANT KINGS!"
Electric cars don't use gas, but you're still borrowing money from billionaires just to be a cog in the system of oppression. We have to dismantle car supremacy to gain any leverage against oligarchs.

@enobacon

Cars are actually a tool to make people willing to build/maintain roads for the shipping industry. The landowners are willing to pay the vast majority of the $billions annually, while the vehicles causing the vast majority of the costs pay a pittance.

This is also why we have little rail. Rail passes the real costs onto the corporations.

@Amgine cars are many tools to many oligarchs. Goods on trucks would move more efficiently with fewer cars on the road, but cities could also operate an electric trolleybus every five minutes with a few of those cargo bike crates able to automatically load/swap / unload at designated stops, and get picked up for the last mile by the next available rider. But fareless transit could never work, supposedly.

@enobacon

Exactly.

I was checking on funding for bike infrastructure in #BC a couple months ago. The Province was announcing a joint funding with the Government of #Canada of several million $CAD for work across the province.

At the same time underway joint-funded highway projects of $27 billion within the borders of the #Vancouver metro region, and more than that outside the metro region. Only highways.

In a country with exactly one national freeway.
