He really was the prototype that the likes of Bieber, Timberlake and othes boy band acts gone solo were built on. But the young kids think they invented everything, just ask them.

unlike Gen Y/Gen Z, those old acts like Adam Ant actually had a sense of fun and wry humor to them. Maybe that's why the kids today don't relate.
