My dad passed away yesterday after 3 years with steadily declining dementia, and honestly, probably more than that when he was still able to compensate for it. It was difficult watching that. Even worse for his wife who had to eventually admit that she couldn't care for him any more in their home.

The last 14 months of his life were spent in a care home and he didn't know who I was anymore, but he always smiled when I came to visit.

In many ways, I've already mourned his death as the person he was slowly disappeared.

I'll miss you, Dad.

@steve Losing a parent is always hard but having it drawn out like that is hard to imagine. Condolences and take care. 🫂

@steve

I'm sorry for your loss.

@steve
That's the cruelest for the family. I'm so sorry for your loss.
@steve My deepest condolences Steve. I’ll always remember what a kind man he was, and i’m grateful to have met him and your family way back when.

@steve Sorry to hear the sad news. My condolences to you and your family.

I understand the mourning of the person in advance of the body. It's tough, and I'm sorry that you had to go through it.
