JK (he/him)I liked the last episode of #StarfleetAcademy S1, but it felt a bit rushed, as though it were two episodes condensed into one. All the character payoffs felt legit, but none of them had as much room to breathe as they should have done.
James@QsBoyfriend these short "seasons" truly kill tv shows. No room to actually flesh out characters and story arcs properly. I hate it so much. I may not need the old 21 or 22 seasons, but jfc, 15 should be doable these days.
@DrJLecter I wouldn't mind if the writing went up a notch, but too often they feel like a two parter's worth of ideas stretched out over 6-10 episodes. The old format allowed much more experimentation week to week (you didn't like this week? That's OK - we'll try something different next week).
@QsBoyfriend it feels as if the writers and show runners also still plan with 20 episodes and then realize, nope, not working, we have to press everything tight together and a lot of times they cut stuff that feels like fillers, but would have given life to the material
