He spends the large majority of his time terrified, or grieving, or angry, or depressed, or frustrated, etc. (He *is* stranded in an alternate timeline... and stuffed in a sanitarium. With abusive guards.)

But he gets excited when it looks like someone is *finally* trying to understand him. To listen to his story.

If he can cobble together a common language...
