What appeared to be personal emails from before Mr. Patel’s time as director were posted on a website that identified itself as Iranian but seemed to be hosted in Russia.

A set of the files posted on the website appeared to contain more than 300 messages from his Gmail. The earliest was from Feb 2010 and the most recent was from Feb 2022. They're largely anodyne personal messages related to matters like hunting for an apartment or booking travel.
