"Haha why would you use a Mac?"

Answer:

It's kind of funny that 30 years later this pretty much hasn't changed.

@thomasfuchs G3s and G4s were such wonderful computers.
@thomasfuchs
My windows PC is black instead of grey, does that count as "change"?
@thomasfuchs Is there a โŽ„ on a Mac?
@thomasfuchs I'm about INF times more likely to replace an 'opening single quote' with a straight single quote than use one in the first place
@thomasfuchs Not to defend Windows (itโ€™s shite) but FYI Powertoys Quick Accent merged a PR for these quote shortcuts recently https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/pull/30481
@sinbad oh nice. Just about 40 years after the Mac added the feature.
@thomasfuchs yeah itโ€™s daft how many things you need to add to Windows to make it tolerable. I used to love my Macs but Apple made it increasingly painful to be a developer for them. Linux is a bit of a mess on the desktop but maybe heading in the right direction one day. I wish there was some OS I could unreservedly like

@thomasfuchs Now do "use your microphone in a new app you installed 5 seconds before the meeting started"

@thomasfuchs

Those opening and closing quotes are abominations and should never be used. Nothing but issues with those ;)

@thomasfuchs i still remember the alt codes for รซ etc, even though I switched to mac over 20 years ago... probably everyone outside of English speaking countries has some subset of them burned into their memory.
