TIL That the nice looking slim #SenseCAP Card Tracker T1000-E has two variants, #MeshTastic and #LoraWan - the only difference is that the LoraWan variant is Open Source. So Bigly Open Source in fact, that it has a locked bootloader preventing it from being used with MeshTastic.

In other news, if anyone needs a non-MeshTastic capable LoraWan T1000-E, feel free to ping me...

@chexum I thought the T1000-E is the Meshtastic device. The other ones have different letters. When I started playing with Meshtastic I ordered a T1000 but wasn’t aware that it was a T1000-A which is the LoRaWan version you mentioned that doesn’t work for Meshtastic.
Are you sure there are different „E“ devices, or just different T1000?

@Steinwaelzer I'm absolutely sure :/

Even the box is showing "T1000-E for LoRaWan", and it was in the description, a detail that I missed during the hunt for the best deal.

The difference is also called out in the product page - https://wiki.seeedstudio.com/sensecap_t1000_e/ ("Before flashing the firmware, please ensure you bought the T1000-E for Meshtastic")

@chexum Thanks! I knew about the different types, but not about different types within one type!
@Steinwaelzer this naming scheme must score quite high at confusing users, even after they learn how not to be confused about it. Someone at Seed Studio must really like this model designation.
