Why Ubuntu 26.10 Might Drop ZFS, RAID & Encryption Support

The proposal calls for stripping out filesystem drivers and other features.

It's FOSS
@itsfoss If I already hadn't moved away from it, this would drive me away.

@tailkinker @itsfoss Over the past couple of years, I've been replacing Ubuntu VMs and VPS servers with Debian servers.

I've had enough of Canonical Canonical-ing things up.

On the desktop, I haven't used Ubuntu for a quite a while. It's either been Debian or, now, Fedora.

@qlp @itsfoss My next stop is probably Manjaro or Arch...possibly Gentoo...or maybe even LFS. The number of distros knuckling under to Nazi legislature makes me sad.
@itsfoss Let them, they’ll lose a lot of home and enterprise customers. 🤷🏼‍♂️
@itsfoss looks like Linux taking his last breath. 😔
@GOKUSHRM @itsfoss Ubuntu maybe... Linux will be there for long.
@ĞÖKÜ👻👻™ No, that doesn't really apply to “Linux” itself. It seems more likely that Ubuntu is on its last legs.
@itsfoss How the fuck do you make secure boot secure without encryption? What is this non sense? Also no ZFS support? ZFS should be pushed as the default file system on any distro, I was happy to see that Ubuntu even supported it in their GUI installer, should they take it back for this non sense?
@itsfoss Ubuntu is on a roll to destroy their own OS for quite a while now.
