Back at the dawn of time (Late 1970’s to mid 1990’s) you got a computer. You then did whatever the heck you wanted with it. You were encouraged to do so with included books on programming.
You purchased the computer, and it was yours to do with as you wished. Now computers* are ways to sell you adverts, steal your data , & rent services you’ll never own.

The idea that one should be forced to verify one's age or identity to use one's own computer absolutely baffles me.
