The anti-trans law that is being passed in India is an affront to human rights. It would involve reversing self-identification for transgender individuals and criminalise support networks for trans people, meaning cis allies are also criminalised the moment they help their trans friends.

India, a country with a rich history of non-binary gender identity: hijra, is now destroying countless of people's lives.

If this law is to pass, India will legally be more hostile to trans people than Pakistan, which already is abysmal.

I'm not Indian nor transgender myself, but I'm a cis Pakistani born in the Netherlands, so I do consider this an attack on my people. I just don't see anyone talking about trans rights when it doesn't involve white USians or Europeans, if you're lucky there's something about Uganda.

Just like Uganda, I suspect there is foul play from US religious extremists at hand here. Fascists aren't spiritual, they use religion for control. The implementation of anti-trans legislation is colonial. The rise of fascism in India is not in line with Hinduism.

‘Our rights taken away, we are being criminalised’: trans persons protest new amendment Bill

Trans community members said the new bill takes away the fundamental right to self-identify gender, purportedly criminalises transgender support networks, and introduces a medical authority that would advise a district magistrate on issuing transgender identity cards | Latest News Delhi

@geomurtad It's ironic in a way, I have no doubt it's partly the christo-fascists chumming up with Modi, but all the while he is commiting genocide on christians in India through "forced conversion" laws. Because fascists will align with other fascists regardless of their stated underlying beliefs. People need to be aware of Modi and what he does more, he's the most influential fascist in the world in many respects, and he's trying to shape the whole of India (and beyond) to his image.
