Overzealous staff at a chain chuka restaurant decided to offer me a fork because I wasn't eating my super-hot gyoza fast enough or something. I told them I had been living in Japan for seven years.

I guess the "o-hashi ha jouzu desu ne" I occasionally get is coming from a place of genuine belief by some people that visible foreigners couldn't possibly know how to do something like use chopsticks, colliding here with the belief they need to anticipate my needs. I've always wondered about that.
