We used to take sleepers in the 2010s, but now you have to book months ahead and I'm never that sure of my dates. It's not only the money. #sleepers #nighttrains

Smart sleepers could be the glow-up night trains need

Europe has a bit of an on-off relationship with night trains. A Berlin team's smart cabin concept could lead to greater commitment.

I wish they would be more modern. I took one a few years ago between Brussels and Vienna. Awful experience that could have been improved easily: for instance, paper thin cushion, dunks as comfortable as a wood board, all toilets unusable from 1am, food menus reduced to nothing compared to the initial announcement ... And all wagons looked 40 years old, and all this was quite expensive. I'm sure this could be much better.
@j2bryson used a sleeper for first time this year (Paris to Nice). Would definitely do it again. There's a Brussels - Milan service coming online in September which is tempting for a holiday/city break
@paulwalk We've done Mannhiem/Veinna, Istanbul/Ankhara, Budapest/Berlin. But we'd do more if we could. We often wind up flying because we're "only" looking a month or so inadvance.
