Sony Shuts Down Nearly Its Entire Memory Card Business Due to SSD Shortage
AFAIK, Sony doesnât actually have memory chip manufacturing capabilities, they buy their NAND and DDR chips from companies like Samsung and SK Hynix, and simply package them in different formats or use them in their devices.
The semiconductor fabs of Sony mostly specialize in camera sensor and stuff like that.
thanks for your info fellow human!
Claude is that you?
Decades of nice safe cooperation and suddenly everythings fucked and now we canât trust eachother.
Its what happens when you let the mob run the country.
Nah. It happens when you let an idiot run things.
Mobsters are still organized businessmen. Just criminal ones. Theyâd do a much better job.
Mobsters (and other organized businessmen) prefer for their goals and means to be impregnable for outside spectators. Meaning we donât know whatâs happening. Also a much better job for their own ends, not yours.
Computation supply chains cracking are a problem, yes.
You know what else is a problem? Those who have a lot of reserve resources and reserve supply chains.
I would expect for USA to start playing Hitler in a decade or so, and it wonât be the âinefficient Hitlerâ trope usually ascribed to USA. Itâll be the âHitler having listed all possible targets and eliminated them in under an hour when the global boogaloo startsâ trope, the âHitler having predicted all his possible opponents, as in separate people, down to every decision 10 years forwardâ kind of trope, the âevil Hari Seldonâ kind of trope. The point is clear I hope.
All delivered to us by computation which most of the world uses inefficiently, but with proper understanding much more powerful. Anyway. I suppose itâs too late to change anything.
I hate that too.
I donât know that the âThe Man in the High Castleâ (supposed to be based on a novel by Philip K. Dick) show was just about the setting and they came up with their own story. I was so pissed off after watching the first episode.
I was actually wondering why they even went with âThe Man in the High Castleâ since itâs a strange and superficially depressing novel. There are much better choices for a series or a movie.
Thatâs why I didnât bother with the Foundation series (I am a big Asimov fan). I donât mind a re-interpretation of a literary work, but it has to be creative and mind bending while conceptually (and philosophically?) engaging with the themes from the literary work.
Funnily enough âThe Gods Themselvesâ themselves is my favorite Asimov novel. Itâs very memorable. Doesnât feel like an Asimov novel.
I would honestly go with âThe Caves of Steelâ as a âbenchmarkâ Asimov experience, the first novel in the Robot series.
If you want to go for something a little bit outside of the Robot / Foundation series (and youâve already read or reread âThe Gods Themselves"), I would go for âThe End of Eternityâ.
When a clown becomes king the palace becomes the circus.
You think it could least be funny
It is funny.
Your right are getting eroded or attempts are being made, tensions the world over are rising and everything is getting more expensive for everyone.
But the memes are Booming.
Mobsters will always try to gain and then enforce a monopoly with violence. They donât want any competition. Mobsters want to control the price in high margin business.
Depending on how they operate, they will also scam people, sell low value real estate at high prices, etc. Being organized means they are much harder to catch.
Ooh ooh I got this one. Iâve played modded Minecraft before.
First you find certus quartz ore until you get at least 4 charged certus, build a charger, then go looking for meteorites to find circuit patternsâŚ
nah all of the datacenters they build for AI, will come to use then.
they will say"Need computing? Donât worry, just rent from us, for an ever increasing and enshittifying subscription"
