Waiting for a chance just in time to live a life.
Does he need ya, does he want ya,
Does he listen to what you say?
Is he only waiting for the simple way?
He is burning
Burning in the twilight.
He is burning
Turning to face us.
He is burning

@BrianJopek oh dear. (Did you live in Scottsbluff? Mr. Blue did from 1994-1996.)
@APBBlue Lived in Alliance at the time (‘84-‘86) - went to see this in ScottsBluff with a co-worker and her boyfriend in his ‘68 Mustang Fastback.
@BrianJopek Western Nebraska -- what a place. 😊
@APBBlue It was a trip for sure - literally. Pretty much anywhere ya went.

@APBBlue @BrianJopek i did my med school clinical rotations in Scottsbluff

Many memories

@autolycos @APBBlue My first radio gig was in Alliance - definitely a few memories!
@BrianJopek @autolycos Mr. Blue was a sports reporter in Sidney and Scottsbluff, so he knew lots of radio guys. 😊

@BrianJopek @APBBlue Dave Thorrell on KRVN was my dude. He would play the Underdog theme song every time my cross country team ran

For the low low price of one pint of homemade chokecherry jelly. KRVN was, Lexington, not Alliance, had a great crew for a long time

You worked in a tough radio market

@autolycos @BrianJopek Which team did you run for? Mr. Blue is a former track/cross country guy. Liked covering those sports.
@APBBlue @BrianJopek couple districts over, but Class B at the time
@autolycos @APBBlue I worked at KPNY - it was literally in a little house on the corner with a 7-11 across the street and next to a printing company. The owners lived in ScottsBluff - they also had KOLT there. We were at around 3,000 watts when I started there and then they boosted the power to 100,000 watts. Scott Shannon out of New York hosted one of the syndicated shows we ran on Westwood One and he cut some one-liners to play
@autolycos @APBBlue My favorite one-liner Shannon did was “Broadcasting live from the top of a silo K-P-N-Y (just kidding Fred. Don’t play that one for the owners).” Fred was my program director at the time. I think I still have that on a cassette somewhere
